At Stevenage Education Support Centre, we offer Key Stage 4 students the opportunity to follow a similar curriculum to the Stevenage mainstream schools with an emphasis on vocational options such as Construction, Cooking, Art and Design and Princes Trust.

Timetables are personalised and individual to the students’ needs, interests and aspirations. It will include a range of academic and vocational subjects through GCSE, BTEC, and Functional Skills examinations alongside Employability Skills and work with YC Herts on PHSCE subjects SCH AS Resilience and Positive Wellbeing, Healthy Relationships and Substance and Alcohol Awareness.

Key Stage 4 students will also  participate in Extended Work Experience placements one day a week. Through partnership working with local businesses and colleges, students will prepare themselves for work and training opportunities at post 16.

Regular individual and group career advice and guidance will support the students to make informed choices regarding the career path they wish to follow. This is in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks and delivered through curriculum based learning and a range of opportunities including Employer Engagement Opportunities and Apprenticeship Fairs.

Every KS4 student is offered weekly mentoring and support advice and guidance. Expectations are high and every student will be expected to engage and work to their full potential to achieve the best outcome preparing them for work and adult life.
