Stevenage ESC provides Behaviour Outreach Support to the Primary and Secondary schools within Stevenage to reduce the risk of children being permanently excluded from their schools.
The Stevenage secondary schools all have a regular weekly allocation of time from the same ESC teacher, whilst Primary schools receive support based on them making a referral for an individual child.
Referrals for this service can only be made by a child’s school and are made on the basis that the school has used its normal range of interventions but with little impact and that the child continues to move in the direction of permanent exclusion.
ESC staff may offer a range of support, from providing behaviour advice to a teacher in school, to working 1:1 with the referred child. The team may also work with a small group of children within the school. Behaviour Support Staff may also offer aspects of training to school staff should time allow. If there is an aspect of support that the school would like, then this needs to be discussed with the relevant teacher.
Support staff may also contribute to CAF’s, IEP’s, PSP’s, IBP’s, Statement requests etc., but may not attend associated meetings.
