Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is ambitious that is offered at Stevenage ESC, which addresses social disadvantages by enabling our students to gain knowledge and skills that empower them to seize opportunities, take on responsibilities, and embrace new experiences. Our curriculum is built upon the values that underpin our Centre: tolerance, teamwork, kindness, resilience, high aspirations, and citizenship.
At Key Stage 3, our students work towards relevant qualifications and skills that will enable them to progress to their next provision successfully. We believe in providing all students with a broad curriculum at this stage, allowing them to unlock their potential to the fullest extent. Recognising the importance of making connections and applying knowledge and skills in a range of contexts, we provide opportunities for students to engage with external speakers, participate in educational visits, and take part in numerous extra-curricular trips.
Our curriculum focuses on developing essential knowledge to support students in eliminating dysfluency and enable their return to a mainstream setting or provide them with the necessary foundation for Key Stage 4. We are proud to report that 90% of our students have successfully reached their desired destinations.
The varied curriculum at Stevenage ESC includes core subjects such as English, Maths, Science, and PSHCE. In addition to these, students also study Humanities, Art, Catering, Bushcraft, Design Technology, Drama, IT, Mentoring, Prince’s Trust, Social Development, and Sport and Wellbeing. Each subject is carefully chosen to provide a well-rounded education and cater to the diverse interests and strengths of our students.
We believe that fostering a positive and supportive learning environment is essential for the educational development of our students. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to their academic progress and personal growth, aiming to equip them with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their future endeavours.
